William McCarthy, CRE

William McCarthy, CRE, is the 2023 Chair of The Counselors of Real Estate, and President and Owner of W.P.J. McCarthy and Company Ltd., a real estate development, management, and consulting company based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Mr. McCarthy is also a lead instructor for the Real Estate Institute of Canada and the author of three of its courses and textbooks on business and real estate ethics, and commercial leasing. He served as president of the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 2009-10. He holds nine university degrees and will be only the third Canadian to serve as chair of The Counselors of Real Estate since its establishment in 1953. Mr. McCarthy also holds several additional real estate designations, 10 in all, including the FRICS designation from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the CPM designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management.
