Matthew Difanis, ABR, AHWD, CIPS, GRI

Matt served as the 2020 chair of the NAR Professional Standards Committee. During his tenure, he advanced a series of proposals that ultimately led to the addition of Standard of Practice 10-5 to the Code of Ethics: a ban on discriminatory hate speech by REALTORS. Matt served six years on the NAR Professional Standards Committee. He has served on his state's Professional Standards Committee for more than ten years, during which time he has chaired dozens of ethics and arbitration hearings. He also served on task forces that helped Illinois become one of the first states to create an Ethics Citation Program and Ombudsman program. Matt is a full-time practitioner, team leader, and multi-office broker-owner. He is also a gaduate of the University of Illinois College of Law.  His background has given him the opportunity to see up close how REALTORS® can run afoul of the Code unintentionally and unwittingly. His session will help others avoid those mistakes.
