William McCarthy, CRE

William McCarthy, CRE, is the 2023 Global Chair of The Counselors of Real Estate, an organization of 1,000 commercial property advisors.  He is also President and Owner of W.P.J. McCarthy and Company Ltd., a real estate development, management, and consulting company based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Mr. McCarthy is a lead instructor for the Real Estate Institute of Canada and the author of three of its courses and textbooks on business and real estate ethics, and commercial leasing.  He served as president of the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 2009-10. Mr. McCarthy has been recognized with several honors in his career.  The Real Estate Institute of Canada’s W.P.J. McCarthy Corporate Citizen of the Year Award is named after Mr. McCarthy and his firm for contributions to the institute and the real estate profession. He has earned several academic degrees and is one of the most accredited real estate practitioners in the world with 10 professional designations.
